I'm not sure which I'm going to run with yet, though I'm fairly certain "A Manticore's Pride" (a novella) won't be long to completion :)
Anyway I hope you enjoy and let me know which you'd like me finish first... I'm leaning towards "Able as Cain" at the moment... but I'm very likely to change my mind.
Enjoy!
WIP 1 - "Able as Cain"
Sabra was his more than any woman should be - the mistress slave of a Magical Warlord, intent on gaining territory for all Magical Beings. Kidnapped by Cain’s men for being a Chameleon, Sabra has no idea about her own intrinsic power. Raised by humans, she only knows she has the ability to camouflage, but little else – but other's know the truth.
Cain has an appetite as a big as his charisma. A hoard of women lay at his disposal, all eager to please and sate him – but only one will satisfy him. In his position of power, Cain cannot show weakness, he must lead his people to freedom and nothing, and no one can stand in his way.Yet when Sabra escapes she finds herself cornered by the media. Defeated, but still defiant, she sells her story of slavery to a reporter for millions. Fame however is dangerous and not only allows Cain’s men to hunt her down, but the others who seek to destroy him.
Now, Sabra is open to attack on all fronts, and the one man who enslaved her becomes the only man able to save her.
WIP II - Kitty's Cat
There is something strange about Kitty's new cat.
In a world were Magical Beings are as common as leaves in Fall, nothing is ever as it seems, and when Kitty Marshall opens her door to a stray she names "Sir Meowsalot", her life is changed for ever.
Piers is being hunted. Afflicted with a deadly curse that went wrong, he's been hiding for months and the enemy is getting closer.
Thrust into Kitty's pedestrian life, he finds a modecum of peace, and a happiness he never expected. Soon however, he is faced with a painful choice to save himself or save the woman who trusted him and willingly gave him her heart.
WIP III - "A Manticore's Pride"
It isn't easy being a Manticore - especially one with no personal hygiene and a sense of humor that ranges only between toilet and gutter.
Phil the Manticore is something of an embarassment to his Pride, and when a practical joke goes terribly wrong, Phil is forced to apologise and sinister shadows from his past begin to rise.
Emma lives a dull and cossetted life. As an unwed female in the Pride her every move is guarded and watched. Her potential mate, the Alpha male - Dirk, is stuffy, dry and completely devoid of laughter. Emma dreams of a life of excitment.
When Phil returns to the Pride to apologise for the disasterous practical joke, something else comes in with him. Suddenly life for Emma becomes a lot less dull and a lot more life-threatening - and only one Manticore can save her...
WIP IV - "Good Girls Don't Talk To Satyrs" - the novel
Kim Quinn lived a life half lived. Her weeks revolved around her boring office job and when to bleach her moustache, until one fateful day she let a Satyr sit beside her on the bus.
Sexy and exotic, Priapus knows life outside the Free Zone will be hard. With an insatiable desire for human women, suburban Perth is temptation personified and not everyone is pleased to have a new a Satyr in town.
When he meets Kim, unexpectedly Priapus finds a kindred soul and a woman worth waiting for.
However not everyone is happy to see their relationship flourish andwhen Kim goes missing Priapus is immediately suspected of foul play.
As time goes by, the evidence becomes more and more incriminating.Priapus faces a lifetime behind bars unless Kim has the fortitude and strength to save herself, and subsequently the Satyr she's fallen in love with.
WIP V - "The Sworn Virgin."
You are now a Sworn Virgin," Armend's voice echoed through the building with the finality of a death knell. A stab of physical pain wrenched through Zamira's belly.
It was done.
She glanced around the surrounding crowd, searching for denial, praying for salvation...
Zamira is a Sworn Virgin, living in rural Albania, where little or no magic is practiced. Forced to live her life as man, speak as man, work as a man - there is no chance for happiness, marriage or children. She lives alone, farming and supporting her sisters and mother in the village until one stormy night there is a knock on her door.
Marco is relieved to find shelter and a place to hide in the neat farm of the softly spoken Zamir. What Marco needs is time, and in this isolated Albanian village that time seems to have for gotten, he thinks he's found it - but something isn't right.
He finds himself watching the young farmer Zamir, baby faced and strangely appealing, conflicting feelings soon assault him.
Determined to find out what Zamir is hiding, Marco stays on at the farm but his own hidden past is fast catching up... Can Marco discover Zamir's secret before his own destroys them both?
Oh, these are all great. So hard to choose. I'd like to see a good Satyr in a story, so I'll go for 'Good Girls don't talk to Satyrs." :))
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Thanks Eleni, I've had a few questions about when "Good Girls" is going to be finished from fans. :) It's the most advanced out of all my WIPS so there's a good chance I may run with it... It's hard because I want to write them all! Now! :P
ReplyDeleteThis is not cool because they all sound so interesting. I want to read them all, but I think the one I am most interested in is "The Sworn Virgin."
ReplyDeleteGood luck with finishing "Redemption."
Thanks Alice... I'm trying, I'm being increasingly tormented by University driven constraints on my time!! Aaaaaah!
ReplyDeleteYes "The Sworn Virgin", is one I've been planning for a while, ever since a friend of mine posted up an article about real 'sworn virgins' in Albania... a very cool premise for a book I thought!
Soo many stories, so little time!
